Autosave to where? Stevo1 April 10, 2021, 3:59am 1 I have recently installed SU 21 and upgraded to windows 10 (sadly) I have been working on a model and had a bugsplat. I had a few SU models open and I think forgot to save the main model I was working on…Bugsplat. As you can see in the image it should have been autosaving every 5 minutes.

I opened sketchup and started drawing and never saved the file. After maybe 5 hours my drawing crashed. Generally I find my autosaves in the folder where the file is located but this time, since I never saved the file, it was called untitled and now that it has crashed, can I find my autosave file somewhere? Or have I lost 5 hours of work? Thanks

Autosave is enabled by default and helps you recover any changes you make to a model if you experience computer problems. To access these preferences, select SketchUp > Preferences from the menu bar. You find most of these preferences by selecting General in the sidebar on the left.

The auto saved file should be in the same directory as the working file. Those backups are identified with as filename~.skp If a recovery file was created, you should be able to see and open it from the Welcome window where you normally choose the template or a recent file to open.

SketchUp used to save my autosave files in the same folder as the file I was working on. Now, it seems to not be saving them at all? I have searched everywhere and can't find them. Autosave is selected under preferences and I even changed it to every 10 minutes, but no point if I can't find them. Does anyone (Apple) know where to find them please?

The autosave files for SketchUp are saved in the "Windows" folder on your C drive, within a folder called "My Documents". This is where you'll find them if they've not been deleted or corrupted. These autosave files will have both (.skp) and (.ply) extentiones.
